Plastic pollution is strangling our oceans and planet. We are fortunate enough to live and work in an area of outstanding natural beauty here in Cornwall, which is visited by thousands of people throughout the year. Our beaches are stunning and we are blessed to have 7 beautiful bays within 5 miles of our business here in Porthcothan.
We have participated in several beach cleans in the area over the years, and have seen first hand, the damage single-use plastics are doing to marine life and our lovely coastlines. We want to do our bit to stop plastic pollution and are therefore taking steps to this aim. Last year we started selling Water In A Box, instead of water in plastic bottles. This year, we will no longer be selling or serving drinks in our cafe and shop with single-use plastic straws, instead we will use paper straws. In addition, we will only stock canned or cartoned drinks with no plastic straws in our cafe and shop, and the take out coffees and other hot beverages we sell, will be served in compostable plastic free cups. 2018 is seeing momentum growing in the UK and globally for the support of reducing our plastic footprints, we hope to spread awareness and for you to join us in taking steps in reducing single-use plastics. | ||
